Saban National High School is a public secondary school located in the Western part of Oas, Albay, an agricultural community that caters to the graduates of Saban Elementary School, Manga Elementary School, Busac Elementary School, Gumabao Elementary School, Calpi Elementary School and even barangays of Libon like Marayag, Burabod and Bacolod.

Saban is four (4) kilometers from the población of Oas. Barangay Saban can be reached by tricycle or jeepneys. The school is made accessible after completing the concrete provincial road.

When the school was opened in 1967 there was only one full time teacher and some of the elementary school teachers taught on a part time basis.

Due to the increase in enrolment and increase in the number of teachers a Secondary School Head Teachers Mrs. Bernardita R. Asanza was appointed as the head teacher of Saban Barangay High School.

On August 4, 1982, the school acquired a parcel of lot through the efforts of the PTA. The officers and members agreed to contribute twenty-five pesos each to raise the sum of ten thousand pesos needed to purchase the 2.2-hectare rice field which is now the permanent site of the school.

The future of the school continues to soar high as evidenced by quality graduates the school turned over each year as evidenced by quality graduates the school is attributed to the school’s supportive PTA, the community, local government officials. Non-government officials, the alumni and the teachers as school’s active stakeholders who advocates of quality education.

Since the school’s opening the school has undergone remarkable improvements. The school operates where all undertakings are based from the policies and guidelines of the Department of Education. Mandates are sourced from DepEd Orders, Memoranda, Circulars and other issuances from National, regional, division, Cluster and municipal levels.

At present the school adopts the K to 12 Curriculum from Grade VII to Grade Xi and Special Science Class B from Grade VII to Grade X. Modules and teacher’s Guide, Prototype LPs, Strategic Intervention materials (SIM) and lesson exemplars are on its optimum use to promote high performance among students. Teachers have the freedom to do some interventions to such materials depending on the varied needs of students to improve learning outcomes.

To date the school has twenty-four (24) teachers, four (4) non-teaching staff and two (2) utility workers.

With regards to physical facilities, the school has thirteen (13) Academic Classrooms, one (1) Science Laboratory, one (1) Student Center and one (1) Computer Laboratory. The school has its EBEIS Center, Property Office, Library, SSG Office and Office of the Principal where the Accounting section is located. The Office of the Guidance Counselor Designated is temporarily housed at the EBEIS Center. Also, the school has a health clinic with the MAPEH teacher as the school health facilitator.

The school has its stage and concrete activity quadrangle to cater the student’s programs and field activities. There are fourteen (14) comfort rooms to serve the students’ and teachers’ personal necessities.

The school has very active supported parents to help the administration carry out the Deped mission and vision. The alumni association as external Stakeholders of the school, likewise support the school program and projects.
